Experience Paris in the autumn: a photo story of the city in rich hues
Paris. The mere mention of this city is enough to awake any dreams of wanderlust. If I only had 24 hours to spend in this city, I will without a doubt do so in the Autumn. This city welcomed me with open arms a few years ago and I have now been calling it home. I like to think of Paris in the Autumn as nature dancing in rich hues. For a while, I was on board the Eurostar frequently. Crossing the English channel and heading back to the UK for the week-end. I am still doing it, but less frequently now.
Paris in the autumn is just as chaotic and colourful as it is romantic
The quaint architecture still seduces me. La place du caroussel du Louvre still leaves me speechless; The first time I visit Paris, I discover the four horses on top of the arch are copies. The original are in Venice St Mark Basilica. La place de la concorde, where Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were beheaded is massive. It is a former royal place and it is gorgeous.
From the architectural wonders of the Eiffel tower, l’Opera Garnier, le Sacre Cœur or the Art deco metro stations, Paris is vibrant just as much as it’s cliché and soigné. From the straight out of the oven pain au chocolat to local bistrots and Michelin stars restaurants, gourmandise leads the way. With its boho style and joie de vivre a la parisienne, Paris embodies excitement.
That being said, every “arrondissement” has it’s character. Some are like little villages. Others lack a bit of soul. Some will say, and I strongly agree, that the city of lights (or the city of love) is best experienced and explored with the senses. All of them. There are so many clichés, some of course are true. To start this Paris series, my Paris series, let’s start here: Paris is the Autumn.
Dusty yellows and rich hues
Summer hasn’t waved goodbye yet and Autumn is settling in. Leaves lye thick on the ground. The wind is blowing gently. Dusty yellows catch the light. The colours of the leaves warm up as the temperatures cool down. Here is my photo story of the city through the lenses of autumn colours. We start in the parks and gardens. Open wide and take it all in, all of it. Come with me and let’s again fall in love with my adopted city.
