Dive in Europe’s craziest party scene in Gran Canaria – Part 1
“‘Cause they say two thousand zero zero
Party over, oops out of time
So tonight I’m gonna party like it’s 1999″

I have to say, Las Palmas or Maspalomas have not crossed my mind as a travel destination. So when I was given the chance to attend Maspalomas famous gay pride event back in May this year, for sure I said yes. Let’s go with the flow I said to myself. Accommodation is great, not at all expensive and within very short walking distance of the beach. I am in luck. I do not mind stopovers at all so the price of the flight is reasonable; and I even had time for a stopover in Madrid for a quick shopping spree ;-).[spacer height=”20px”]
This has got to be the first time I ever go on holidays where my unique activities are siesta and party. Seriously. Solely Siesta and Fiesta for 5 days. Well, tell you what, i am so, so glad I did it. Getting out of our comfort zone leads to unexpected happiness. I absolutely love it. Could we please talk about parties? There are insanely wild; One moment you are letting loose on electro, the next you are swinging on pop, RnB or shaking your head on rock. Light-heartedness. Excitement. Happiness. Awe. Diverse and awesome, life events (with guest such as Tulisa to name but a few) at the The Yumbo Centrum in Playa del Inglés are great fun;
[spacer height=”20px”]The party carries on at the parade. Just mind-boggling. I take a few moments to marvel at the costumes, the make-up, the atmosphere; People, local and partygoers alike are simply kind and taking it all in. We party the night away and walk back to our hotels in the wee hours peacefully.[spacer height=”20px”]The feeling next next day inestimably precious. Every passing hour is filled with light-heartedness. Excitement grows at the thought of jet skiing and other adventures planned for the remaining of this escapade. [spacer height=”20px”]
Returning home is unsettling. It takes me a couple of days to reajust to my everyday life but hey, isn’t that what travels are for? Always expect the unexpected.[spacer height=”20px”]
