5 days in dramatic Brittany/Breizh

Brittany the weather, Brittany the landscape, Brittany the clichés…. i always wondered what it was that made Brittany so popular. My other sister Cecile and my dear friend Alice are both completely gaga about Brittany. I, however, have not set foot there until recently. And boy oh boy i now understand their love.

A year ago and again this past June, my friends and I enrolled for the annual inline skating competition “la Groll Race” in Quiberon (this year our team “les gros tricheurs” finished 36th. Quite proud ;-)). A fabulous opportunity for me to discover part of this beautiful region, going for an off the beaten track in Quiberon, Belle Ile en Mer, Carnac, Locmaria, Vannes.

Medieval towns are a joy to explore; Beautiful beaches, wild coastlines are a dream particularly when the tide retreats and you get to walk the ocean floor; Dramatic menhirs (megalith) leaves you in awe; Lush forests gets you beaming like a kid and food to marvel your tastebuds.

Obviously, i tasted as many galettes (the savoury version of crepes made with black wheat) and crepes as my belly can handle (I completely fell in love with the restaurants “Le petit baigneur” in Sauzon, Belle île en mer and la Creperie Le Goeland in La Trinite Sur Mer); And yeah i gently washed it down with local cider. Oh and i went for some amazing seafood. I understand why locals are so proud of their culture and tradition.

There is so much more to Britanny. It is definitely to be explored. Grab your bags and go. Don’t think just go and check it out!
